    一定要在生前获得修法的功德。光是寄希望于临终时的超度或观修,有很大难度。经续中讲到的临终引导,必须是一个戒律清净、观想娴熟、具有生圆次第境界的人才能做到。否则如往空竹管中倒水,只能下注漏失。
    Be sure to acquire the merits of dharma practice when you are alive. Do not pin your hope on the final liberation or meditation, which is very difficult. The last guidance mentioned in the sutra is only possible for a guide with clean precepts, skillful meditation and proficient practice in the generation and perfection stages; otherwise, it's like to pour water into a hollow bamboo pipe, the water will but leak.

    如果没有学好前行,就想修学大圆满,这是一种颠倒迷乱的行为,可能会积累严重的罪业。所谓的五十万加行,也不能简单地仅求一个数量。以皈依为例,不是说念上十万遍皈依偈就万事大吉了,而是不管何时、何地,心中都要持有永不舍弃上师三宝的决心!若能这样心法相印,才可以修学大圆满。

    Trying to practice the Dzogchen without having learnt the preliminary practices well is a incoherent behavior. It may accumulate serious negative karma. The so-called Five 100,000 Accumulation of the Preliminary Practices cannot simply be regarded as a quantity. For example, taking refuge does not mean to recite the Gatha of Taking Refuge for 100,000 times; it means a determination of never deserting the Guru and the Three Jewels in any time and condition. It is with such a mind corresponding with the dharma that one can practice the Dzogchen.

    若以贪心而不与取,则主要转生饿鬼中;若以愚痴而行持非法,则主要转为旁生……苦谛由此而成!形成地狱的苦谛、饿鬼的苦谛、旁生的苦谛,此等皆属于苦谛。所谓“谛”,乃谓佛陀亲口所言,毫无欺惑。
    Those who stealed out of greed were mainly reincarnated as a preta, and who did evil actions out of ignorance were mainly reincarnated as an animal... Thus came into being the Dukkha-satya (the noble truth of suffering), including the dukkha-satyas of the hell, the hungry ghosts, and the animal. “Satya” means truth taught by the Buddha himself, which is without any deception.

    实修正道,须首先见到三有悉为痛苦自性。三有,乃谓轮回中一切事物,而非从中挑出一两样东西,才叫做(三)有处。地狱的寒热苦、饿鬼的饥渴苦、旁生的愚痴苦,并非单单从中挑出一两个恶趣而已;而是上自有顶下至无间地狱,全都称为有处,彼即痛苦之自性。

    Before putting the right path into practice, we should first realize that all the Three Realms of Existence are completely sufferings in nature. The Three Realms means all the things in samsara, instead of just one or two of them. It does not mean just one or two evil destinies out of the agony of the intense heat or cold of the Hell, the suffering of hunger and thirst of the Preta, and the misery of ignorance and foolishness of the Animals. All the places, from the summit of the highest heavens, to the very depths of the hell, are called realms of existence, which are all sufferings in nature.
